Reportage photography involves no interaction between the photographer and the subject. The photographer reacts to events and situations and attempts to capture those moments without interference. It is quite possible to photograph an entire wedding using only reportage techniques – particularly if the Bride and Groom do not want formal group shots for their album – but normally reportage forms just a part of the way we photograph the day. It means we keep a sharp eye out all the time for anything that might make a memorable image. Sometimes it’s these impromptu shots that are the most striking of the whole day.
