Yes, I love you too…

It’s a well-known fact: all brothers and sisters hate each other. So when a well-meaning parent suggests having a nice family portrait done to hang above the sofa in the living room the response is predictable “No Way am I having my picture taken with him/her/them/you!

At this age it’s usually ok

Actually not ALL brothers and sisters hate each other. Mostly the under 4s and the over 25s are ok, and sometimes I’ve even come across teenage siblings who quite like each other, but I have to say it’s unusual.

Big Brother love

On the other hand, it’s interesting when you actually see the photographs. A big part of my job is to create a natural environment (there’s nowhere more unnatural than a photographer’s studio!) and to bring out the bonds between family members, and the affection between brother and sister often shines through even though they’ve both tried really hard to conceal it. Just another example of the magic of family portraiture!

Is this a cuddle or is it strangulation?

I hope none of my friends see this!
